| After years of planning, the New Lenox Fire Protection District (NLFPD) is proud to announce that construction has officially begun at Fire Station 2, located at 1205 N. Cedar Road. The long-awaited project includes major facility updates and a new addition that will enhance the station’s capabilities and better support the growing needs of the community.
Station 2, built in 1970, is the oldest of NLFPD’s fire stations. Originally designed as a volunteer station, it now houses four full-time firefighter/paramedics who provide around-the-clock emergency response. The current renovation and expansion will bring the facility up to modern standards, improving firefighter health and safety, expanding operational space, and upgrading outdated mechanical and living areas.
“Station 2 has served this community for more than five decades, and this renovation ensures it will continue to do so for many years to come,” said Adam Riegel, Fire Chief of the New Lenox Fire Protection District. “These improvements will support our personnel, enhance our readiness, and allow us to provide the highest level of service to our residents.”
Construction is estimated to last approximately 10 months. Station 2 will remain operational throughout the project, with measures in place to ensure uninterrupted emergency response.
NLFPD thanks the community for its continued support and patience as this vital project progresses. For updates on construction and other District news, please visit www.nlfire.com or follow NLFPD on social media. |
