New Lenox Fire Protection District Responds to Emergency Plane Landing

This morning at 11:20 a.m., the New Lenox Fire Protection District received a call for an aviation response on I-355, just north of Rt. 6.

Upon arrival, there was a small plane which had made an emergency landing onto south bound I-355, near mile marker 1.25.

Four people were on the plane during the emergency. All were transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently investigating the cause of the incident.
Multiple other agencies were on the scene including, Illinois State Police – District 15, Mokena Fire Protection District, Homer Fire Protection District, FAA, National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and the Illinois Tollway.
