To the residents and visitors of our District-

We want to reassure you that the New Lenox Fire Protection District has planned and we are prepared to deal with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19). We are taking every precaution to do our part, including the practice of social distancing. To keep our members and their families’ safe, to keep our community residents safe, and to keep this unique situation from becoming worse in our area, we are putting these temporary precautions in place until further notice:
- All outside visitors are restricted from the fire station(s) at this time.
- The front lobby of the fire station will remain locked and all visitors must ring the bell for services/deliveries.
- All public education, car seat inspections, and tours inside the fire station(s) and in public are suspended until further notice.
- All use of the fire station(s) by outside organizations is suspended until further notice.
- Fire department crews will be limiting their presence and contact to the public for all non-emergency events.
- If you have questions about the Coronavirus, contact the Will County Health Department Coronavirus Hotline at 815-740-8977.
- As always for EMERGENCIES please dial 9-1-1. If you call 9-1-1, be prepared to answer some brief questions. Dispatchers will be screening callers for the following: flu like symptoms, fever, difficulty in breathing, or suspected exposure to COVID19. This screening process is necessary for the safety of first responders and will expand to all calls including fire and service calls.
- Although we have always appreciated visitors who bring us snacks and cards, and express their gratitude for our services, we ask that you refrain from doing so in-person at this time. If you’d like to share your gratitude, please reach out to us through social media or by email.

The most important thing we can all do is limit exposure and practice good hygiene. We urge our residents to respect the requests made by both the State and Federal government to limit your levels of exposure. We must be proactive and follow these precautions to protect those who could be in the “higher- risk” category of susceptibility of the virus. It is also important to remain claim and to be respectful to each other during this time.

The Fire District will continue to work closely with the Village of New Lenox, the New Lenox Police Department, New Lenox Township and our EMS System to keep our community informed as this situation evolves. As always, we will continue to respond to all your emergency calls- 24/7!

We understand that these are challenging times but know that we WILL get through this, together.

Respectfully,
New Lenox Fire Protection District
