Just after 4:30 p.m. this afternoon, the New Lenox Fire Protection District received a call for a structure fire on the 20600th block of Amherst Ct.

Upon arrival, there were two buildings on the property which were fully involved. The NLFPD went to a defensive approach right away. One building is a complete loss, the other building has significant fire damage, and is still in the process of being put out.

Multiple agencies are on the scene. Will County HazMat is also on the scene doing product control on the run off from the fire and monitoring the environment.

At this time, the situation is ongoing, but the fire is under control. The multiple agencies are anticipated to be on the scene for an extended period of time.

The cause is unknown at this time.
