On Saturday, August 4th the New Lenox Fire Protection District hosted their annual Family Fun Day at Station 1 on Rt. 30. This year, over 600 New Lenox residents enjoyed the afternoon at the fire house.

Families who attended the event were able to take rides in fire engines around the METRA lot, find their way through a maze in junior firefighter gear, practice their skills with a water hose, jump in a bounce house, learn safety from other organizations, fill their stomachs with pizza and sno-cones, and walk through the district’s fire safety house.

“We love that every year we are able to offer this day as a way to give back to our residents. Families who come to the fire house always leave saying how much they have had a great time,” said Adam Riegel, NLFPD Fire Chief. “We are especially thankful this year to Chicago Dough for donating the pizzas, Old Plank Trail Bank for providing sno-cones, 1-800-Boardup for supplying the bounce house, ServPro for donating the cookies, All-in-One Rental for providing the chairs, and Northern Illinois Fire Sprinkler Association for supplying the side by side burn demonstration, as well as all the organizations that participated at our event. It could not have been a success without their help.”
