The New Lenox Fire Protection District (NLFPD) responded to a structure fire this morning in the 19400 block of S. Parker Road, bringing the blaze under control within minutes of arrival.

At 8:03 a.m., NLFPD crews were dispatched to a report of a structure fire. While enroute to the scene, firefighters received updated reports indicating that one individual might still be inside the residence. However, upon arrival at 8:08 a.m., crews confirmed that all residents had successfully and safely evacuated the home.

First-arriving units observed smoke showing from the exterior of the structure. Firefighters made rapid entry into the home and encountered heavy fire and smoke conditions originating in the walk-out basement, which was extending into the first floor.
Crews deployed two hose lines to combat the blaze, utilizing a water tender and a nearby fire hydrant to establish a secure water supply. Through an aggressive initial attack, firefighters brought the fire under control within 10 minutes of arrival, fully extinguishing it shortly thereafter.

Paramedics assessed the residents at the scene for potential injuries; fortunately, no individuals required transportation to local hospitals. No injuries to firefighters have been reported.

The NLFPD would like to extend its sincere thanks to our mutual aid partners for their critical assistance during this incident. The Mokena, Frankfort, and Homer Township Fire Protection Districts, along with the Will County Sheriff’s Office, provided vital support at the scene. Additionally, several neighboring fire districts assisted by providing coverage for New Lenox stations to ensure seamless emergency response for additional calls for service received during this time.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
