New Lenox Fire Protection District Responds to Structure Fire

(January 24, 2018) –Yesterday evening, the New Lenox Fire Protection District (NLFPD) received a call for a structure fire at 5:58 p.m. in the 700 block of West Maple Street.

When the first company arrived on the scene, there were flames visible on the roof of the commercial building and the response was immediately upgraded to a full still structure fire. The fire district was able to get the fire under control within 20 minutes of arrival on the scene. No injuries were reported and everyone in the building was able to evacuate safely.

The NLFPD received assistance during the structure fire from several other area fire districts, including: Frankfort, Mokena, Manhattan, East Joliet, Homer, Lockport, Northwest Homer, Palos, Palos Heights, Orland, Elwood, Troy, and Peotone.

There is damage to the building, total cost of damage in not yet available. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
